Recently, GenKey Products, Plug Power's one-stop solution for hydrogen fuel cells, has expanded to provide low-cost green hydrogen gas, and currently has about 100 electric forklift trucks in storage using its fuel cells.

For the first time, a quarter of all forklifts sold in the United States will have the opportunity to use cost-effective hydrogen fuel cells, the company said. In addition to Plug's fuel cell solution, the new offerings include a low-cost green hydrogen supply from Plug's hydrogen production plant, modular and more flexible hydrogen storage solutions, and the freedom to go off-grid.

Plug Power claims their customers could save more than $260,000 and as much as $1 million annually compared to batteries, and is taking orders now with delivery expected in the fourth quarter.

Jose Luis Crespo, General Manager, Fuel Cell Applications and Global Accounts, said, "With Plug's expanded GenKey offerings, warehouse facility customers capable of holding 100 forklifts now have the option to transition to fuel cells and a more affordable, reliable and sustainable fuel source to meet their business goals.

"Our extended GenKey products are making it easy for the material handling industry to adopt hydrogen, allowing more companies to benefit from increased productivity, reduced costs and increased flexibility."

All Plug Power's products are integrated into one, called GenKey. GenKey, a software package developed and named by Plug Power in 2014, is a complete solution package that seamlessly connects hydrogen fuel cells, material handling operations, stationary power and other applications. GenKey specifically includes GenDrive(fuel cell system), GenFuel(hydrogen supply infrastructure, gas storage and refueling stations), GenCare(aftermarket service), GenSure and ProGen.

So Plug Power plans not only to sell fuel cells, but also to supply the hydrogen that goes with them. Genkey is paving the way for market expansion of fuel cell systems. Each Genkey is valued at $8-12M.
