Nel is the world's first ULC refueling station certified

2023-08-24

Nel has made a historic breakthrough in the field of refueling stations, successfully obtaining the world's first Canadian Standards Association ULC refueling station certification, setting a new industry benchmark in the safety, quality and performance of refueling stations.

As an independent, non-governmental organization accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), the Canadian Standards Institute (ULC) is a global authority in the field of product safety and quality certification. ULC is known for its comprehensive and rigorous standards, and its certification stands for high quality in terms of quality, comparable to its American counterpart UL.

Nel is ULC certified

Michael Stefan, Senior Director of Product Management at Nel, said: "We are delighted to have achieved the groundbreaking achievement of achieving ULC certification for the world's first hydrogen refueling station. NEL aims to promote the entire industry, build trust with customers, and strengthen the company's global leadership in the field of hydrogen refueling stations.

As a widely recognized regulatory authority in the United States and Canada, ULC sets stringent industry standards to ensure product safety and quality. ULC certification is more than just validation; it is an endorsement that a product has passed a series of rigorous tests and evaluations to meet a complex set of standards.

Compared to UL, ULC certification has some additional and more extensive requirements, usually falling between the UL and CE marks in terms of complexity and scope of coverage of product areas.

While other standards can be used in the Canadian hydrogen fueling station (HRS) market to ensure compliance, ULCs are recognized globally and are often needed to demonstrate compliance. With this milestone, Nel has not only established itself as a leader, but has also set a benchmark for the HRS industry in Canada.

Ulrich Sch?, Project Manager at Nel "As the first and so far only hydrogen fueling station (HRS) operator in the world to demonstrate ULC compliance, we hope this milestone will drive the HRS industry in Canada to make consistent progress towards certification of the standard," said ler. Our goal is to lead the way in this area and inspire more uniform and rigorous compliance with safety and quality regulations, thereby raising standards across the industry.

Introduction to ULC certification

The ULC Certification, or Underwriters Laboratories Canada certification, is a product safety and quality certification issued by the Canadian Standards Association. ULC is an independent, non-governmental organization recognized by the Standards Council of Canada and is known for setting rigorous industry standards and conducting product testing and certification.

The goal of ULC certification is to ensure that products meet certain standards in terms of safety and quality. ULC conducts thorough and rigorous testing and evaluation of its products to verify that they meet specific safety, performance and quality requirements. ULC certification is often seen in the product world as a sign that a product has met a high level of standards in terms of quality, safety and performance.

Similar to its American counterpart, Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the ULC certification has a broad reputation for setting rigorous requirements. ULC certification standards cover a number of areas, including the electrical, mechanical, chemical and other characteristics of the product to ensure the safety and performance of the product under various conditions.

Obtaining ULC certification usually requires going through a series of tests and assessments to ensure that the product meets the standards set by ULC. Achieving ULC certification means that the product has been rigorously tested and has the ability to meet safety and quality standards.
