Haiyisen cooperates with New Way to develop hydrogen sanitation trucks

2024-03-11

Recently, Hyzon and New Way Trucks (New Way) announced that they will cooperate to develop fuel cell garbage trucks for the North American market.

It is reported that according to the cooperation agreement signed by the two parties, Hyzon will be responsible for the supply and integration of its advanced fuel cell technology and integrated powertrain, while New Way will be responsible for the supply and integration of the prototype Sidewinder XTR automatic side-loading garbage body.

There are currently approximately 120,000 garbage trucks operating in North America, and integrating FCEVs into garbage collection fleets could significantly help decarbonize the industry and reduce noise pollution from diesel trucks.

It is worth mentioning that the initial customer trials of the first North American prototype truck jointly developed by the two parties are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2024, with the goal of delivering the first hydrogen fuel cell commercial vehicle in 2025. It is understood that the trucks are expected to have a driving range of 125 miles and a refueling time of 15 minutes.
